Description

Brazilian Andrucha Waddington directed the three generational tale The House of Sand (Casa de Ariea). Fernanda Torres plays a woman who moves with her husband to a remote town in the Brazilian desert. When he dies, she tries to escape the isolated town, but ends up spending the next 59 years of her life there. When her daughter grows up, she too wants to escape the remote isolation. Sony picked up the film at the 2005 Toronto Film Festival.
