The rumor last week that Oscar-winning actress Charlize Theron [CTHER] and British actor Tom Hardy [THARD] have been cast in Mad Max 4: Fury Road [MMAX4] has been confirmed by the trades Mel Gibson will not return after starring in the three previous installments. The new leading man Hardy first came of note as the villain in Star Trek: Nemesis playing a young clone of Captain Picard, but broke through this year with his acclaimed title role in Bronson [BRONS].
After being on and off for over a decade, Fury Road is expected to go into production next summer in Australia. Last week, director George Miller began pre-production work on the massive film project that is expected to take two and a half years to complete.
