Box Score: Jurassic World: Dominion crushes Lightyear at the weekend box office

With its competitor sputtering on take-off, Jurassic World: Dominion [JURA6] retained the weekend box office crown with an estimated $58.66 million. The sequel decayed 60% from its debut to advance its total to $249.79 million after 10 days.

After sending the last 3 Pixar films straight to Disney+, Disney couldn’t entice families back to theaters. Lightyear [LITYR] opened in second place with just $51.0 million, less than half of Toy Story 4’s $120.9 million debut in 2019. The film drew an audience that was 52% males and 54% over the age of 25.

Top Gun: Maverick [TOPG2] banked another $44.0 million to bring its massive haul to $466.17 million after 4 weekends.
