Box Score: Avatar: The Way of the Water rings in New Year's

Starting off 2023 the same way it ended 2022, Avatar: The Way of the Water [AVAT2] banked another $63.44 million to led the weekend box office for a third time.   The sequel has already amassed $421.56 million.

Puss in Boots: The Last Wish [PUSS2] stayed in second place at $16.25 million, an increase of 31% in its second weekend to take its total to $60.66 million.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever [BPNT2.BW] finished third at $4.83 million, pushing its total to $437.98 million.

Whitney Houston: I Wanna Dance with Somebody [IWDWS] slipped 11% from its debut to $4.24 million and $14.87 million overall.

Babylon [BBYLN] declined 24% in its sophomore session to $2.73 million to bring its sum to $10.14 million.
