Falling well short of expectations for a major DC superhero sequel, Shazam! Fury of the Gods [SHAZ2] led the weekend box office with an estimated $30.5 million. The 2019 Shazam! debuted at $53.5 million. The family audience were not convinced to return for the sequel.
Last weekend’s top film Scream VI [SCRM6] tumbled 61% to $17.5 million and second place. The horror sequel has earned $76.03 million.
Creed III [CREE3] scored another $15.37 million to take the third spot. The sequel has banked $127.70 million after 3 weekends.
65 [65] fell 53% from its opening to $5.8 million. The sci-fi actioner sits at $22.43 million in 10 days.
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania [ANTM3.BW] rounded out the top five with $4.07 million in its fifth weekend for a total of $205.83 million.
Cocaine Bear [COCAB] grossed another $3.87 million to bring its total to $58.49 million after 4 weekends.
Jesus Revolution [JSREV] brought in$3.5 million in its fourth weekend to advance it sum to $45.54 million.
Champions [CHMPN] declined 41% in its second weekend to $3.03 million. The comedy has tallied $10.59 million.
Moving On [MOVON] debuted with $798K from 791 theaters.
Opening in 375 theaters, Inside [NSIDE] nabbed only $470K.
