Scoring the biggest animated debut of 2025 and the biggest anime opening of all times, Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle [DSIC1] banked an estimated $70 million to top the weekend box office. The first part of a new trilogy already outgrossed the entire $50 million Demon Slayer: Mugen Train earned in 2021. Premium Large Format screens made up 44% of the grosses.
Last weekend’s champ, The Conjuring: Last Rites [CNJU4] dropped 69% to $26.1 million. The horror sequel has amassed $131.05 million in 10 days.
Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale [DWTA3] opened in third place at $18.1 million. The third and last film in what started as a TV series appealed to older women with 55% over the age of 55 and 72% female.
The Long Walk [TLWLK] debuted with $11.5 million at the fourth spot. The R-rated film attracted an audience that was 71% over the age of 25.
Caught Stealing [CSTEL] bagged another $1.15 million to bring its total to $17.71 million after 3 weekends.
Coming 41 years after the original film, Spinal Tap II: The End Continues [STAP2] grossed just $1.67 million from 1920 theaters. The mockumentary skewed 74% men.
The Roses [TROSE] collected $850K in its third weekend for a sum of $14.36 million.
