Disney has debuted not one, not two, not three, but four different versions of the same teaser for Pixar's Monsters University [MONS2].  The prequel to Monsters, Inc. goes back to the college days of Mike and Sulley to show how they overcame their differences to become best friends.  Monsters University opens next year on June 21st.

Summit has revealed a brief new trailer for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, Part 2 [TWLI5].  In the concluding shapter to the franchise, the baby of Bella [KSTEW] and Edward [RPATT] has quickly grown into a young child attracting the attention of the Volturi led by Michael Sheen [MISHE].  The Cullens must enlist the help of wolfpack clan of Jacob [TLAUT] as well as other vampire covens around the world in order to battle Volturi.  The Twilight Saga finally ends on November 16th.

Two of Hollywood's biggest stars couldn't compete against the animated animals of Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted [MADG3], which held on to the top spot with an estimated $35.0 million. The sequel declined 41% in its second weekensd, bringing its tally to $120.5 million.

Prometheus [PROME] remained in second place with $20.2 million.  The sci-fi prequel to Alien lost 60% from its opening weekend.

Universal has debuted the first trailer for the musical comedy Pitch Perfect [PTCPF], which brings the successful film formula that's popualrized dance movies into the singing world.   Anna Kendrick [AKEND] leads a female a capella group that must come together as a whole before they can go up against the competition from rival schools.  The riff-offs begin October 5th.

Two long-time movie stars faceoff this weekend in a rematch from the fourth weekend of June 2010, but both may succumb to the second weekend of an animated threquel, much like how that weekend played out two years ago. Adam Sandler’s Grown Ups ($40.5 million) beat Tom Cruise’s Knight and Day ($20.1 million), but both were topped by Toy Story 3’s $59.3 million. Sony Screen Gems has unveiled the full, theatrical trailer for Resident Evil: Retribution [RESE5], the fifth installment in the zombie action horror franchise.  Milla Jovovich's [MJOVO] Alice continues her fight against the Umbrella Corporation from Tokyo to New York City to Moscow.   Michelle Rodriguez [MRODR], Sienna Guillory [SGUIL] and Oded Fehr [OFEHR] return from previous films.    The 3D film opens on September 14th.

Summit has unleashed the first trailer for the horror film Sinister [SINIS].  Ethan Hawke [EHAWK] plays a true crime novelist who moves his family into a house where the previous owners were murdered.  He discovers a mysterious box filled disturbing home movies that contains the presence of a pagan demon in the found footage.  Sinister opens on October 5th.

In a battle of two new 3D films, the animated sequel Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted [MADG3] prevailed with an estimated $60.4 million debut over the sci-fi prequel Prometheus [PROME] at $50.0 million. Madagascar 3 finished just off Madagascar 2's $63 million opening, but received better marks from its audience.  The family film should enjoy long legs at the ummer box office.
