Reset trading is the third leg, but if you can't reset trade, then you "pre"reset trade. Half of daytrading is catching stocks at their peak or trough before they reverse directions. Sometimes this doesn't happen until reset, but other times big movers will reverse course at certain points duringt the day. While the pattern has been less effective of late, in general, what brought me success was playing the peak/trough during the day, because usually the reversed direction would be the direction that reset traders took that stock at the very next reset.
eg. if Stock A went up 8 points during the day peaked at that +8, then slowly bled so that by the end of the day, it was only at +5, reset traders usually would send it down further at 12 AM PST. What goes up usually came down, and vice versa.
Now it's not always the case, depending on why the stock moved big that day; whether it was a reset bumped stock or a news stock; what time the news was posted, etc. Sometimes a stock will continue to move in the same direction after reset. But on the whole, you get a feel for it, and so you can guess which way it'll go at reset. So before you go to bed, you set your positions, reversing where you need to. Of course, then you get what's been going on the past few weeks where reset traders are picking random stocks that have been dormant for a long time and making them go up bigtime, but you can't predict those. That's the achilles heel for someone who can't reset trade, alas.
