Actually, no, the trades placed while the stock is frozen do not cause a jump in price when the stock is released at reset.

Only trading AFTER reset has any "motile" effect on the price. If a billion shares of a stock were sold while it was frozen, and then at reset, no shares were moved, the stock would not fall. It would stay still until someone made the first trade, whether it was to buy or to sell or to short or to cover, and THAT trade would cause the initial movement.

Now, all the trades made while the stock is frozen WILL have an effect after it is unfrozen. If a LOT of shares were moved in the frozen state, then the brakes will already be in place at reset so that for an unknown amount of time, any trading done on that stock will only move the stock a tiny amount.

Relative newbie question- when a movie adjusts, does the price freeze for a while after the adjust, like with an IPO? Dales Mar 25, 16:13
