I know that's the rule, but I think it's increasingly not a very good one
Under this math - which derives from the old broadcast TV structure, which is rapidly being abandoned even by them -- a hugely successful show that only runs for a half-season (like 24 did back in the day) would be worth less $$ than a show that limps along to 16 episodes and then gets canceled. It divorces TV Stocks from actual market performance in a way that seems counterintuitive and increasingly somewhat arbitrary.
