Advise on Limit Orders please...

i don't use them, but should i be? i'm not sure what good they do. i can't sell something if it drops below a set price and i can't buy something if it goes up to a set price. so what are they good for? can anyone please give me some practical examples with MovieStocks/StarBonds/etc.?
