Dumb question, but I have to ask...

Why do securities sometimes jump/drop significantly without any recent market news related to the security surfacing? Is it simply the effect of a handfull of people moving max shares one direction or another at the start of the day and other people following suit after seeing the motion?

For example, RESE6 is currently up 51% without any tagged posts in the forums. 15,404,749 shares have moved today. A quick Google search didn't turn up any recent news related to the movie. Is the 51% increase simply due to people seeing the stock move one direction and jumping on board for the ride?
