I should have specified; the films mentioned weren't direct rereleases, I mean if Conan the Barbarian was rereleased in 3D...
I would have a hard time betting against it! I think we need to take the rerelease as a different criteria than simply a remake. I mean we all know how well Star Wars did when it was rereleased, not that Lion King is at that level of quality, but it does hold dear with those who grew up in the 90s, often times cited as a favorite in animation. [I'd rewatch Fantasia if they put it into theatres!] I think there is more nostalgia in a direct rewatching of the original, than a film posing as it. I'm sure most people who went to see the Lion King have already saw it, so we may also consider the element of secuirity, that the viewer feels safe to go to the theatre because he, or she, or the family, knows what they're seeing.
