I don't think competition will prove much of a factor; instead, I think it is a pretty pure "repeat business" question. I haven't seen...
... it or the first one. The visuals of the trailers tempt me, and I did see DPIMP, ARMAG, "What dreams may come," the first three XMEN films and "Independence Day" on visual values alone.
All to say I can't imagine that many people who will see it in theatres have not already seen it once; if you accept this idea, then the question becomes is TFRM2 like other bad tentpoles like "Van Helsing," or failed tentpoles like "Watchmen," or will it be able to support second+ visits.
Have you read any reports of second viewings?
