That's probably referring to the Kurt Busiek series Untold Stories of Spider-Man

Which basically told stories that took place in between issues of the Kirby/Ditko run... I'm assuming this movie is a similar thing where we're suposed to accept that Andrew Garfield is Peter Parker and we're seeing things that happened when the camera wasn't on Tobey Maguire... so therefore, he can be back in high school or living with his aunt, etc.
