True, however, remember that there were rumors at one point of Jonathan being considered to direct the new Superman, and it's not without
precedent for writers to transition into directing, especially "genre" writers directing "genre' movies. Jonathan Hensleigh, Brian Helgeland, Christopher McQuarrie, David Goyer, Mark Steven Johnson...hmmm...I didn't say they turned out to be GOOD directors. ;)
Spielberg has also attached and detached himself from several projects over the years...most recently, 39 Clues and Harvey.
Just pointing out that it is possible for Nolan to be transitioning to the director's chair for this and for Spielberg to be moving aside.
