Ford.. (2001 and 2007, respectively). Both well-reviewed, both featuring Brad Pitt. More recently Brad Pitt was also in the much-lauded Tree of Life (2011). None of these did anywhere near a 9M weekend, ever, during their respective runs in North American theatres... but many critics were raving about all these three movies.

Now, I have seen Killing them Softly. I don't feel ****sure, but I can say that I'll be perhaps a tad bit more than just slightly surprised if it makes more than 10M on opening weekend alone. I liked it, but it demands a lot from viewers. It's quite far from a surefire crowd pleaser. Like I mentioned, rather indie feel to it, almost artsy - and quite heavy-handedly political. For me, it was perfect to see it *before* the Presidential elections. Releasing it after, domestically, makes less sense to me. Anyway, will be truly interesting to see how it fares, and how audiences receive it.
