Plus PAND3 just looks pretty mediocre imo from the trailer. Enjoyed the 1st, 2nd was ok, and this just looks like a pass for me. {nm}

According to The Wrap, PAND3 is tracking in the 35-45M OW range, but should have good legs going forward.. gardavou Jan 27, 07:57

Historially the most difficult genre to track. Marketplace is wide open for quality animated fare; the "experts" are a bit low, IMO. {nm} RollingThunder Jan 27, 08:01

I was always under the impression that if sequel opens lower than 1st one, chances are 3rd one will open even lower than sequel Oleg Max Jan 27, 08:12

Part of why KUNG FU PANDA 2 opened less is the decision to open against HANGOVER Part II, something that even Katzenberg has apologized for. {nm} notfabio Jan 27, 08:43

Though the January date for this, is more about synchronizing its China release to the US than anything (and avoiding Star Wars) {nm} notfabio Jan 27, 09:18

Yeah, I think it is because the target audience is never actually surveyed - just their parents. {nm} RogerMore Jan 27, 08:16

(and also, kids grow up and lose interest, and have to be replaced by a new generation that has to be convinced to watch the movie) {nm} RogerMore Jan 27, 08:19

Yeah, also a good point there. I kinda forget about that aspect. {nm} RollingThunder Jan 27, 08:26

It seems weak but at the same time better than most of the kids movies released in the past few months. it should have legs. {nm} leo21 Jan 27, 11:55

Proof of that... Wrap just contradicted themselves and are now talking about a 45M+ OW... loll 50SOB: 15M FINHR: 10M gardavou Jan 27, 08:37

Advance sales for “KFP 3” were outpacing both that film and DWA’s last release “Home,” which opened to $52 million last March. {nm} Antibody Jan 27, 09:38
