Early reviews seem to be positive, so I wouldn't count this movie out...yet.
It seems like there was a lot of good feedback at the press release on 7/8/16. The premiere is tonight and reveiwers will be there. I think by Sunday (Monday at the latest) we will know if $40MM is too high or too low of a projection for opening weekend. The only negative I see: it will be competing with other family films like "Finding Dory" and "The Secret Lives of Pets", both getting great reviews. And, with "Star Trek: Beyond" opening the following weekend, it could be an uphill battle to make it past the $100MM mark, domestically.
