They have to trim a *lot* of fat.

Posted by: Jay_Beezy (a.k.a Jay_Bling) on Feb 27, 13:30 in response to notfabio's post Variety: Oscar telecast lowest rated in 9 years.

Someone suggested having separate ceremonies held for foreign films and short films. Kinda like how they did the effects Oscars.

Another issue is most films that are recognized aren't the ones that people don't go to the theater and see.

Variety: Oscar telecast lowest rated in 9 years. notfabio Feb 27, 13:05

They have to trim a *lot* of fat. Jay_Beezy Feb 27, 13:30

The problem is not all the awards but all the extra stuff they added that I mostly muted and browsed on the computer {nm} JDolphin Feb 27, 13:33

they've literally been saying that the morning after every Oscars as long as i've been watching. they'll never trim the fat {nm} slipping jimmy Feb 27, 13:37

I think the last time ratings didn't go down was the year of 'Titanic'. CSBD Feb 27, 13:44

They keep adding fat. {nm} Jay_Beezy Feb 27, 14:10

About to say the same exact thing. {nm} ~JPV~ Feb 27, 14:10

category fat aside, that was one of the funniest Oscar shows in years, I thought...I want Jimmy Kimmel back next year! {nm} tealfan Feb 27, 15:07

Start the show an hour earlier. Best Picture was announced after midnight on the east coast. {nm} fourstars Feb 27, 15:20

Maybe the stuff up was deliberate to attract viewers next year. Phillips Feb 27, 15:54

People really only want to see the acting categories and Best Picture. They need halve the awards they broadcast & down to two hours. leo21 Feb 27, 16:24

the Academy is made up of more than actors. it takes a village to make a movie {nm} slipping jimmy Feb 27, 19:02

that's why I never understood why people felt Best Director should also win Best Picture...I like to think of BP as a "team" award :) {nm} tealfan Feb 28, 10:53

Pretty much every acting award was predicted--not much suspense there. {nm} CG63 Feb 27, 19:39
