Kind of underwhelming
I'm not sure Brie Larson conveyed the sort of natural charisma of Carol. She seems rather soft spoken and I get the SW comparison.
So many people are familiar with Carol because of X-Men (especially from the X-Men Animated Series). I didn't expect Rogue to be in the first movie since the Fox/Disney deal wasn't a thing when this script was written, but the script for this movie seems to be borrowing from the comic plot after Carol was attacked by Rogue and Carol trying to regain the memories Rogue stole from her. There's no way they can repeat that plot so it's very disappointing if we don't get an epic Rogue vs Ms/Capt Marvel on the Golden Gate Bridge on the big screen and the whole transformation of both Rogue and Carol from that event.
I hope that isn't going to be ignored since it's the perfect opportunity to introduce mutants as the villains in the MCU (the Brotherhood sending Rogue after Carol) rather than just introducing the X-Men as another superhero team.
Maybe I'm expecting too much that Rogue would be a part of this but Rogue and Carol's characters are so interconnected that the Disney/Fox deal gave me hope we'd actually get to see that in the MCU. Without Rogue, I honestly don't care about Carol.
