Monitoring crowds (or lack of) last night, KICK ASS was generally thwarted by the title ala DRAG ME TO HELL (there's more)
Now you'll go JACKASS did just fine, but that had a wildly popular and well known MTV series to back it up and women generally were drawn in by Johnny Knoxville.
There was definitely a title revulsion factor with anyone who wasn't an under 25 male and most of those couldn't get in.
It didn't help that the "strong female lead" is an 11 year old girl, which you really can't push without getting creepy and that initial teaser was very weak.
