But that's NOT the point! That's obviously NOT the point. And you know this. Ask yourself this then at least:

The James Bond film franchise has been around since the early 1960's. Over 60 years. Why is it then, under the Broccoli's watch, that there haven't already been 25 different TV shows? Every consumable product under the sun being franchised? Why hasn't James Bond been out there shilling every single product around?

Spinoffs. How many characters and things could potentially be done from a story telling perspective with this franchise? It's endless, correct? And yet, why hasn't the public gotten all of that stuff to this point?

Corporate Synergy would be the easiest thing in the world with this. Unfortunately, we're now about to see it.

And what that does is it KILLS it. It turns it into a BRAND and it kills the original stories and people's love of them. They "kill the goose that laid the golden eggs".

The QUALITY of all that myriad of storytelling : it goes away, it becomes nothing more than just more PRODUCT that goes out there.

The obvious single best example of that for people older than 55 is Star Wars. From 1977 to 2005 (nearly 30 years) you had 6 films . You also had relatively little other filmed media. It was nowhere near overkill. In fact, before the prequels, you had 3 films and that was it. People were starving for MORE. If anything, when the prequels came out, fans said THAT was probably too much, but at least it was still its creator's vision. That's been all gone for years and years to this point.

Ask yourself one question: of those people that had been fans of the stories all that time, what percentage of them feel like they're starving for more anymore? Disney has destroyed the allure. They've destroyed the anticipation, the excitement, and the love for the franchise going forward.

It's gotten to the point where there's new Star Wars stories everywhere, and fans of the original films don't even know because they could not care less at this point.

I was watching late night shows a few weeks back, and Jude Law is on there. I think he's promoting The Order; no, he's promoting a Star Wars series he's done that's showing on Disney plus. I ask my co workers that I've discussed the Star Wars films with forever; nobody even knows about this series, nor could they care less about even knowing about it. Nobody cares anymore. And this is how it's been for YEARS now. Congratulations Disney for what you've accomplished.

What the've done is they've milked the BRAND to death. Maybe they've made more dollars out of it by doing it, but they've killed it in the process. The quality becomes less and less and less, the amount of it is more and more and more.

Do you LIKE that idea?

The stories that have been going around about Broccoli's relationship with Amazon, they feel authentic to me. Amazon execs referring to her beloved James Bond as "product/content". Can you imagine how that would turn your stomach if you were her?

I get that she finally saw the writing on the wall, and decided it was useless to keep fighting the good fight. She's reportedly described Amazon more than once as being run by  "&^%$ing idiots".

And now, she finally succumbs and gives away control and in 48 hours:

The idiot running the business implies that he's letting every nitwit in the world decide who should play the next Bond, and
Amazon announces some ridiculous streaming TV show about Moneypenny.

If you love James Bond films, "you don't have to watch any of it" is not the preferred statement to get thrown out there about killing the essence of what you love. At least not for me.
