I don't think it will ruin "Le diner de cons" because it will be 2 completely different movies.
Anyways the vast majority of American doesn’t watch French movies with subtitles (their lost). Most of them won’t even know it’s a remake. So who cares if they ruin it or not? I know I will always like the “Le Diner de cons” even if the remake is crap.
It's like comparing a book to the movie...Don't compare. Try to enjoy two different version of the same story.
