Having spent the last day with my sister and two young nephews...

I can tell you first-hand that they have already said they want to see the movie and they've mentioned that every time they see the commercials. Granted, one of them liked Disney's The Country Bears and saw it twice... but still, when parents want to take their kids to the movies, Yogi Bear will seem like the lesser of two evils against Gulliver's Travels.

RS: [WRWAY] $5 million secretstalker Nov 28, 14:27

I wouldn't be surprised to see YOGIB open to half that, and not because it looks terrible. Rolling_Thunder Nov 28, 14:37

I just saw the trailer in theaters and yeah, it looks bad... but kids seem to love that kind of stuff. secretstalker Nov 28, 14:53

the yogi trailers look alternately trainwrecky and hilarious. "but yogi, we never practiced the razzle dazzle" slays me {nm} islander Nov 28, 14:55

As an FYI, YOGIB is currently posting 16% negative buzz on Twitter, which means a lot of users are bashing the heck out of it. Rolling_Thunder Nov 28, 15:32

I'd expect that the primary audience for the movie is too young to be on Twitter. secretstalker Nov 28, 17:29

Haha, true. If parents are trashing the film, the kids will need a hard sell for them to open their wallets! {nm} Rolling_Thunder Nov 28, 17:35

Thank you very much :) {nm} Oleg Max Nov 28, 14:40

YB is waaay to high. {nm} Port Value League Admin Nov 28, 14:47

why? flinstones opened to $30M way back in '94, Scooby Doo to 54, and both alvins in the 40's, and Yogi is every bit as beloved as those. {nm} islander Nov 28, 14:52

YB is no where near as beloved as Scooby Doo and/or Alvins. Flintstones...can't argue with you there. {nm} Port Value League Admin Nov 28, 14:58

if you have any older (say 40+) coworkers or relatives, ask them how beloved yogi is to them. very beloved. (my mom near 60 loves him) {nm} islander Nov 28, 15:04

i love the old yogi cartoons. this looks like the total suck and i would never pay to see it {nm} mickpix Nov 28, 15:10

regardless, it's clear that they are targeting the family market and not 40somethings who grew up on the cartoon originally {nm} mickpix Nov 28, 15:20

The 40+ crowd doesn't exactly flood the theaters opening weekend. shadowking Nov 28, 15:21

granted I have no idea, but was anyone watching the flintstones or the chipmunks? sneak Nov 28, 15:28

Their parents did when they were kids. Yogi is more of a grandparents thing. shadowking Nov 28, 17:41

if RS is going with mid 30's, commercials must be selling somebody on something! {nm} islander Nov 28, 15:44

Or RS is just really bad at interpreting the data, especially during the lower opening, long long legs season we are about to enter. {nm} shadowking Nov 28, 17:43

OK, so is that the demographic for YB? I thought they were aiming it toward kids. as far as kids go, I do not see them flocking to YB as he Port Value League Admin Nov 28, 15:29

Bedrock is an interesting universe; Jellystone Park isn't. ALVIN has the tremendous advantage of helium-soaked voices. {nm} second gary Nov 28, 15:26

Thanks for the updates ! {nm} joeoftexas Nov 28, 18:48

Don't worry, Tron Legacy will pick up right before it's released. No chance of less than $50M opening. {nm} accountant_4_Jesus Nov 28, 18:56

Well... except... the art design, AFAICT, makes it difficult to resolve the images. If "Speed Racer" can open to less than $50, I don't... second gary Nov 28, 19:58

Remind me again how wrong RS was with Tangled? {nm} accountant_4_Jesus Nov 29, 00:10

Tracking right or wrong is one matter, but... the TRON2 images look... wrong. Even the still photograph in the moviefone piece... second gary Nov 29, 06:38

I can't really see the problem with the images. They look cool to me. Maybe it's your age catching up with you? ;) {nm} accountant_4_Jesus Nov 29, 18:14
