Thinking about it a little more, the active players either own no funds (if they have a small port) or every fund (if they have a large one)
It doesn't take much money to buy all the funds, and even if it is slow growth, hey, it's better than holding it in cash. So active traders own all the old funds and all the new ones.
Meanwhile the inactive players own only old funds, and no new ones. So of course the oldest funds are also the most-widely held - and it would be like this even if there are more active traders than before.
