The question on (nearly) everyone's lips: How long are we supposed to grieve with those who lost loved ones on Friday?

Is it right for us to be playing this game while others are still grieving over the loss of their loved ones on the weekend? Should we get angry at those who are focused on the game here? Here are my thoughts:

What happened early Friday morning was a terrible tragedy. It should never have happened, and my heart goes out to those who lost loved ones during that attack. I am still in shock about it, to be honest. Words can't begin to describe how horrible that tragedy is, and I can't even begin to imagine how those who were left and those who survived are feeling right now, or what they are thinking. I don't want to get into the whole "should gun control laws be passed" debate about it, because I don't really want to argue about that right now. But as RazorHawk said, that could have been one of our friends from here that went to the cinema and never made it home. That makes it hit home all the more, and makes it all the more serious in my mind. We could've all lost a friend in that tragedy, and we all need to realise that.

However, that doesn't mean that we should stop our lives indefinitely in respect for the victims and their families. There is only so much we can do, so much we can say, so many times we pour our hearts out about this tragedy and show support for those affected. After a while, there isn't really much else we can do except to pray for those families affected, that God would grant them peace and help them to deal with their loss in the best way that they can. We can still have somber moods about this tragedy, but if we continue to weigh our hearts down about it, knowing that we have done all we can and cannot do any more, it will only start to damage us as well. When people come to that realisation, it is at that time that they must move on with their lives, while still remembering those families in their hearts. I respectfully ask every one of you to pray for those families affected, grieve if you need to, but then once you have finished grieving, don't hold on to that grief any longer. Put it aside and move on with your life, otherwise you will only end up hurting yourself. I am sure that although we are currently still hurting for those families involved, they wouldn't want us to keep hurting for them for the rest of our lives. Do what you can to make a positive difference in someone else's life each day. Enjoy life while you can, because as Friday morning proved, nobody knows when their time here on Earth is up. If enjoying life for you means going back to playing this game, by all means do so. Just make sure that you have dealt with the sorrow and the grief over this tragedy first.
