Y eah, I know the feeling. It's truely the curse of the horror fan to have to deal with that. Maybe it's just me though
but I did't think those "tropes" looked bad int hat trailer. In fact, the spiderwalk guy looked as good as I've seen it since the first time (to my knowledge, The Excorcist bonus features). I feel that, even if something has been done terribly many times, it doesn't take away from the quality of it being done right one time. Horror is what it is, and it will often be derivitive (just like everything else, which is an ironic kinda statement- haha), but when they put it together well, I am very enthusiastic. As I am with this show.
However, I'm not trying to defend it or anything, I just think that in this case, you're not a fan of the genre and maybe that makes it look less amazingly awesome. As a fan of the genre though, I am very stoked.
