I just became aware of an interview/article published by the NY Daily News with Jason Isaacs about the upcoming CBS AllAccess show 'Star Trek: Discovery'.

In it he is quoted as saying “I don't mean to sound irreverent when I say I don't care about the die-hard Trek fans,” he told us at an event in Los Angeles. “I only ‘don't care’ about them in the sense that I know they’re all going to watch anyway. I look forward to having the fun of them being outraged, so they can sit up all night and talk about it with each other.”
Well Jason, I think after that you could be very wrong about Star Trek fans watching. The more I've been hearing about the plans and production for STD (an appropriate acronym IMO) the worst it has been sounding. I had long since made the decision to not watch it even if I could get access to it and really didn't think things could sink any farther. Until I read that brilliant piece of nuanced, many layered statement of stupidity and contempt. Metaphorically pissing on the core of your potential audience is not the way to succeed.
I don't do social media but I'm told by people I trust who do that he's been compounding the problem by trying to defend it on Twitter. Has no one learned that that is a no-win scenario for ANYONE people are pissed at?
