It's disheartening seeing how our neighbours to the south are slowly imploding.
I used to make trips down south (with my family or just my wife) on at least an annual basis, and many years multiple times. We did Vegas and Disney 4 times each, plus a bunch of road trips around the north east, etc.
In the last 2 years though, I've gone just once - and that was a short day trip to Syracuse for a concert. That's it. Frankly, I just don't feel like it's a safe place anymore.
I know, it's unlikely something would happen, but it gives me the feeling of taking a cruise during hurricane season - you know you'll probably be safe, but there's an elevated risk that you'll be in the wrong place at the wrong time.
