You can argue they aren't quite tragic enough to make the cut, but the point is it happens WAY too often in the US.
But there's no point in arguing it. To quote a very common tweet that gets retweeted after these types of events (so never that long in between): "The gun debate ended after Sandy Hook, when the US decided it was preferable to have kindergartners gunned down rather than restrict gun ownership." Nothing will change. Again.
