Have you seen his defensive play? I ask you to watch his highlight reels and tell me how that is lollygagging.
Is he immature? Yes. Did he have a few instances of not running hard, and did he have bad quotes about them? Yes. But damn if he doesn't work hard and play hard 98% of the time.
And an overpay? At his age with his defense and his bat? He's worth that money. Look at how much baseball overall and the teams are making as a multibillion dollar industry. As they have made more and more money over the past few years, the players' percentage of that money has dropped. We're not there to watch the owners make profits. We're not there to see the front office or baseball operations do their work. We are there to see the players. They are the product and they should be paid commensurate to that idea.
