My husband is an essential worker, I have a compromised immune system, and our daughter has a heart condition. He and I are in our very
early 50's, and our daughter is only 15. Anytime any of us leave the house we wear a mask. However, only about 25% of the people that we have dealt with (hubby at work, hubby and daughter while grocery shopping) are wearing masks. Currently the death rate in our county is around 40%. And yes, our state is opening "slowly" even though we have cases on the rise, and too many deaths.
I am sorry, but I don't think it is worth it to risk so many lives just because some people want to get their hair done, go shopping, go to a bar or restaurant, or whatever.
By the way, anyone involved in the growing, processing, delivering or selling of food is an essential worker, so the only reason for a food shortage would be if the workers get sick and no one is well enough or willing to take their place.
