I don't blame BSU, but their schedule is weak. The only top-10 team they were slated to play was Virginia Tech at the start. VTech lost the following week to James Madison. Thus, BSU doesn't play any team during the year that can allow anyone to gauge them. They might be awesome, or they might not. But if Alabama played BSU next week, I'd put my money on Alabama. . .but I am most certainly biased toward the SEC.
P.S. This board is about the last place I expected to see anything about college football.
