On August 12, 2001, Miramax Films will release Apocalypse Now Redux, a longer version of the 1979 classic Apocalypse Now by director Francis Ford Coppola. Redux will run 197 minutes, about 53 minutes longer than the original version. The restored footage includes the "French plantation" scene, extra scenes of Willard and his crew on the gunboat, as well as the prized scenes with the Playboy Playmates.
The film has been re-edited by Coppola and the original editor Walter Murch. Furthermore, Apocalypse Now Redux has been restored and converted to digital.
