The tale of the Cuban novelist and poet Reinaldo Arenas comes to theaters through Fine Line Features. The project titled Before Night Falls is directed by Julian Schnabel who also made Basquiat. The story chronicles Arenas' poverty-stricken childhood and eventual exit from Cuba to his death in New York in 1990. The part of Arenas is played by Javier Bardem who previously appeared in Oscar-winning director Pedro Almodovar's Live Flesh. Before Night Falls also has supporting performances from Johnny Depp, Sean Penn, Michael Wincott, and starring roles for Olivier Martinez and Andrea DiStefano.
