David Lynch made a name for himself with his art house hit Eraserhead. The success of the the cult film allowed Lynch to create his first mainstream film The Elephant Man. The film earned eight Oscar nominations including Best Picture and Best Director. Since then, Lynch has created a legion of classic cult movies including Blue Velvel, Dune, and Wild at Heart. In 1990, Lynch won the hearts of television critics everywhere with the wildly popular Twin Peaks. Recently, Lynch was nominated for an Oscar for his efforts on The Straight Story.
