Disney plans to release a sequel to their classic animated film The Jungle Book in early 2003. Steve Trenbirth, who worked on Aladdin and the King of Thieves and The Lion King II: Simba's Pride will direct this animated sequel. Mowgli is now a grown young man who longs to return to the jungle to find Baloo. Other returning characters include Sher Khan the tiger, King Louie, Colonel Hathi the elephant, and Bagheera the panther.
