There may have been no young actress more poular in the wild and crazy, go-go '80s than Molly Ringwald. With a collection of successful films that included Sixteen Candles, The Breakfast Club, Pretty in Pink and The Pick-Up Artist, Ringwald was living the 'Brat Pack' life and sitting on top of the movie world. As the era of Ronald Reagan, fast money and The Culture Club began to drift away into the 1990's, the core of actors that shot to stardom in the John Hughes-teen-angst genre began to fall away into the shadows of Hollywood. Ringwald was no longer part of the "it" list in Hollywood and was only seen in minor films like Baja, Malicious and Office Killer.
But, like with most things in American culture, everything old is new again and that also includes young stars of the '80s. After a short stint on the TV series Townies, Ringwald has been slowly moving herself back in to the spotlight. In 1999, Ringwald joined a group of today's young stars in Teaching Mrs. Tingle and will next be seen in the horror flick Cut.
