The action film Ong Bak: Muay Thai Warrior is about a village champion on a quest to find a sacred Buddha statuette stolen from a rural temple. He competes in undergound fight clubs in Bangkok in order to win it back. Tony Jaa, who plays the fighter, is hailed as 'the future of martial arts' and the film has plenty of crowd-pleasing fight sequences. Directed by Prachya Pinkaew, this Thai film premiered at the 2003 Toronto Film Festival and has become a worldwide hit.
