Based on the novel Animal Husbandry by Laura Zigman, Someone Like You concerns a young woman who concocts an elaborate theory about men and women based on observations of the animal kingdom. To this would-be theoretician, the males of any species share the common trait of inconstancy and the incapacity for love while the females are ever hopeful and longing for meaningful relationships. She tries to apply this theory to her own life and actually publishes her findings in a men's magazine which in turn duly results in a New York Times critical rejoinder.
Ashley Judd will star opposite Hugh Jackman in the film directed by Tony Goldwyn. Greg Kinnear, Ellen Barkin, and Marisa Tomei round out the cast.
