The Tic Code is the touching story of a musical prodigy afflicted with Tourette's Syndrome, and the relationship with his mother. Gregory Hines, Polly Draper, Bill Nunn and Carol Kane star in a story that centers on a gifted twelve year-old who lives with his single mother and shares a passionate love of jazz with his best friend. The boy is praised for his musical genius yet sheltered by a neurological disorder. He must deal with unsympathetic classmates and an estranged father who is uncomfortable with his son's affliction. The young boy's mom arranges that he meets his jazz idol, a legendary saxophonist named Tyrone Pike. The two become fast friends as the young boy slowly attempts to bring his mother and Tyrone closer together in hopes of creating a happy situation for all. Gary Winick directs from a script by one of the film' s stars, Polly Draper. Many will remember Draper from her role as Ellyn Warren on the Emmy-winning TV series, thirtysomething.
