The Weinstein Co. has revealed the domestic trailer for the drama Carol [CARO], while Studio Canal has released the full-length international trailer. Set in 1950s New York, Cate Blanchett [CBLAN] and Rooney Mara [RMARA] star as two women from very different backgrounds who have a socially unacceptable lesbian love affair. Adapted from the Patricia Highsmith novel 'The Price of Salt', Carol premiered at the Cannes Film Festival to critical acclaim. Sure to be an awards contender, Carol arrives in theaters on November 20th.
A young woman in her 20s, Therese Belivet (Rooney Mara), is a clerk working in a Manhattan department store and dreaming of a more fulfilling life when she meets Carol (Cate Blanchett), an alluring woman trapped in a loveless, convenient marriage. As an immediate connection sparks between them, the innocence of their first encounter dims and their connection deepens.
