While a couple of disaster films were met with a ruinous fate, Boo 2! A Madea Halloween [BOAM2] topped the weekend box office with $21.7 million. With 65% of the audience female, the comedy sequel connected with Tyler Perry's fanbase, but opened nearly 25% behind the original.
Geostorm [GEOST] debuted in second place with $13.3 million, just 10% of its production budget. The audience for the catastrophic film skewed 56% male and 77% over the age of 25.
Last weekend's winner Happy Death Day [HTDTH] fell to third place with $9.4 million. The horror film dropped 64% to bring its total to $40.7 million.
Blade Rummer 2049 [BLAD2] finished fourth at $7.2 million. The sci-fi sequel has tracked down $74.0 million.
Only the Brave [NOEXT] secured only $6.0 million to open at the sixth spot. The firefighting film drew 54% male and 74% over the age of 25.
The Foreigner [FRGNR] declined 58% in its second weekend to $5.5 million and $22.8 million overall.
The Snowman [SNOWM] opened at eighth place with $3.4 million. The audience was 52% male and 65% over the age of 25.
Same Kind of Different as Me [SKODM] rounded out the top 12 with $2.6 million.
