With an estimated $350 million debut at the weekend box office, Avengers: Edngame [AVNG4] smashed the previous opening weekend record of $257.7 million set last year by Avengers: Ifinity War by nearly $100 million. The fourth Avengers film now holds the record for biggest Thursday night preview at $60 million, biggest Friday at $156.7 million, biggest Saturday at $109 million and biggest Sunday at more than $84.3 million. The audience was 57% male and 61% aged 25 years or older.
Captain Marvel [CMARV.BW] jumped back up to second place with $8.1 million in its eighth weekend to advance its total to $413.6 million.
The Curse of la Llorona [CHLDN] tumbled 72% from its first place debut to $7.5 million and third. The horror film has made $41.3 million.
Breakthrough [BRKTH] finished fourth with $6.3 million, down lost 44% from its opening. The faith-based drama has net $26.1 million.
Shazam! [SHAZM] rounded out the top five at $5.5 million and $131.2 million after 4 weekends.
