Four newcomers failed to dislodge the green ogre from the top spot as Shrek Forever After [SHRK4] reigned for the third consecutive weekend with an estimated $23.5 milion. The 3D animated sequel has now earned $183.0 million.
Universal's R-rated comedy Get Him to the Greek [GHGRK] fared best amongst the new releases. The Russell Brand [RBRAN] starrer grossed $17.4 million to finish in second place.
Ashton Kutcher [AKUTC] and Katherine Heigl [KHEIG] teamed up to bank $16.1 million on Killers [5KILR] for Lionsgate.
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time [PRSIA] stumbled 54% in its second weekend to $13.85 million to take fourth place just ahead of fellow sophomore slump Sex and the City 2 [SATC2], which tumbled 59% to $12.65 million.
Fox's family film Marmaduke [MARMA] dug up an underwhelming $11.3 million, while Warner Bros.' sci-fi horror Splice [SPLIC] cooked up just $7.45 million.
