Senior moviegoers are no match for Marvel superhero fans as Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness [DRST2] three-peated atop the weekend box office with an estimated $31.6 million. The sequel sits at $342.1 million.
Downton Abbey: A New Era [DWTA2] debuted in second spot at $16.02 million, down nearly 50% from the first film’s $31.0 million debut. The sequel skewed female at 73% and 48% over the age of 55.
The Bad Guys took in another $6.1 million to place third. The animated film has banked $74.36 million after 5 weekends.
Men [MEN] opened with just $3.29 million. The thriller received a D+ CinemaScore from an audience that was surprising male at 58%.
Firestarter [FRSTR] extinguished 50% in its second weekend to $1.9 million, bringing its total to $6.96 million.
