Less than ten years after Spider-Man broke box office records and spawned two equally successful sequels, Sony reboots their superhero franchise with The Amazing Spider-Man [SPID4] featuring Andrew Garfield [AGARF] as Peter Parker in another origins story. While he still gets his superpowers from being bitten by an experimentally enhanced spider, this Spider-Man spins web from mechanical webslingers apparently based on the work of his deceased father. Instead of Mary Jane Watson, his high school crush is Gwen Stacy, played by Emma Stone [ESTON], while Martin Sheen [MSHEE] and Sally Fields [SFIEL] play Uncle Ben and Aunt May. Rhys Ifans [RIFAN] stars as Dr. Connors, who comic fans will know turns into the villainous Lizard. The re-imagined Spider-Man appears to be darker in tone with hints of The Fly, while the videogame-like first-person view looks to be taken straight from the videogame 'Mirror's Edge'.
