With COVID-19 cases resurging across the country, moviegoers stayed home as Freaky [FEAKY] underwhelmed with an estimated $3.7 million debut atop the weekend box office.  The audience was 55% aged 25 and over and evenly split between the sexes.

Last week's champ, Let Him Go [LETHG] dropped 55% in its second weekend to $1.8 million.  The thriller has earned $6.9 million.

The War with Grandpa stayed in third place with $1.3 million in its sixth weekend, bringing its total to $15.2 million.

For the second weekend in a row, Focus Features offers the only new wide release in theaters. Kevin Costner [KCOST] and Diane Lane [DLANE] topline the modern western Let Him Go [LETHG]. Targeted at older adults, the R-rated thriller has received favorable reviews. Let Him Go arrives in 2436 theaters.  Recent releases during the current pandemic with similar counts have opened in the $3 to 4 million range. Let Him Go will likely perform comparably and bring home around $3.5 million.
