Yahoo has the full, green-band trailer for the action comedy Kick-Ass [KCKAS]. The non-superhero superhero film has been generating tremendous buzz whereever Lionsgate has screened the film.
Last night I attended Variety Magazine’s Screening Series at Arclight, which showcased James Cameron’s “Avatar” [AVATR] in 3D with a half-hour Q&A with the director/writer and two production designers afterwards. This article is not a review of said film (but trust me, I do have my opinions of “Avatar”—many, many opinions. Even so, I do recommend seeing it in its 3D format on the big screen, just for the comic book spectacle of it all.) Now let me share with you the rare...
Since smashing into theaters three weeks ago, the sci-fi epic Avatar [AVATR] has show little signs of letting up. The phenomenal buzz on its 3D special effects has turned Avatar into a must-see event film. Non-viewers risk being left out off the conversation. Avatar is also getting repeat customers, many returning for the 3D version after first seeing it in 2D. With the holidays over, Avatar is unlikely to maintain its less than 10% weekend drop-off. Even with a decline around 35%...
Universal has uploaded a regular trailer for Repo Men [REPOS] that's suitable for all audiences. The green-band trailer plays out just like the previous red-band version, minus the blood, the open body surgery, the nudity, and a couple of f-bombs.
DreamWorks has released the first trailer for the comedy She's Out of My League [SHOML]. In the dating world, the rule of thumb is to target someone who is no more than 2 away from you on a scale of 1 to 10 on the attractiveness rating. Chasing after a girl more than two above you on the scalewould be going out of your league. Well, Jay Baruchel [JBARU] plays an average "5" who is dating a hard "10" in the shapely form of Alice Eve [AEVE]. It's always interesting to see what menial job...
Dimension has released yet another trailer for the R-rated comedy Youth in Revolt [YRVLT]. With heavy emphasis on the need for Nick, played by Michael Cera [MCERA], to "Be Bad' to lose his virginity, it's the closest to calling the film Superbad 2 without calling the film Superbad 2.
Sony has officially postponed production on the fourth installment in the Spider-Man franchise [SPID4] according to Variety. Production had been scheduled to begin in February in order to meet its scheduled release date of May 6, 2011. Last month, IESB was the first to report the turmoil behind Spider-Man 4, which was promptly denied by Sony. Today, Nikki Finke corroborated the story that the original halt in pre-production was due to major problems with the script, and not a planned...
Producers have tapped Oscar-winning British director Sam Mendes [SMEND] to direct the 23rd James Bond film [JB23] starring Daniel Craig [DCRAI]. The announcement in The Hollywood Reporter came just as news filtered out that pre-production work on Bond 23 was on hold due to the pending sale of Bond distributor MGM. Production could begin as early as June for release in 2011. Bond 23 is being written by Peter Morgan (The Queen) and the regular duo of Neal Purvis and Robert Wade. Mendes...
MSN has unveiled the trailer to the comedy Our Family Wedding [FAMWD] from Fox Searchlight. Forest Whitaker [FWHIT] and Carlos Mencia play two fathers forced to make peace when their offsprings decide to get married. Judging by the light antics and accompanying trailer music, the interracial dynamics between an African-American family and a Mexican-American family are played strictly for laughs. Our Family Wedding is scheduled to open in wide release on March 12.
Lionsgate has cut a new trailer for From Paris with Love [FPWLV] that's actually shorter than the original trailer, both available online at Apple. The action film is billed as "From the Director of Taken", Pierre Morel [PMORE], who incidentally was reported today by EW as the new director for Dune.
